We had a wonderful six days in the Lake District, and I discovered a love of fell walking, such steep hills but well worth it for the fabulous views. Otto had a whale of a time, I've never seen him run so far, or for so long. We loved the place so much that we have already decided to go again. I joined Slimming World as soon as we got home so that next time I go I will be carrying less weight over those hills. I surprised myself by paying for 12 weeks in advance to show commitment - not like me at all, but I'm feeling really determined. Thanks to Dick, who has taken it all on board and is taking to the change of diet really well, he will still be drinking beer though, oh, and there's the cheese. My most difficult time will be in the Wortwell Bell on Friday night, I will sorely miss the home cooked crisps and the sweet potato fries!
I have been making twinkly items in preparation for Xmas, lots of earrings and some crystal necklaces too. I was working away yesterday and became aware of lots of little beams of light round the room, the joy of Swarovski crystal in sunlight! There are also some lovely new semi-precious necklaces on the website, so have a look at this weeks new stock by clicking this link new items
.Here we are in sunny Cumbria (not true, it was sunny yesterday but has just started raining). We are staying in a really lovely spot close to Grange-over-Sands and Cartmel - the home of Sticky Toffee Pudding (oh dear). Dick and I had the first day here on our own (with Otto of course), and our friends Doris & Stuart joined us yesterday, it's really nice to catch up. Unfortunately Doris is a very bad influence and Dick is easily led, last night they consumed (in Doris's words) a bit of wine; a bit of whisky; a bit of gin, and Dick had a couple of beers as well. Paracetamol was required this morning, and Dick says he still has a slight headache (the time is now 16.04!!!). Notwithstanding this we have walked several miles over Hampsfell today, and stopped for a much needed cup of tea (Dick says no alcohol today). We have four dogs with us on this holiday, Otto and Buddy ran amok over the fell like there was no tomorrow, and Toby and Evie were rather more sedate. Needless to say Otto, being blond, looks much filthier than the others - we may have to see if we can fit him in the shower!
I have brought a few new necklaces to put on the website while we're here - so if we do get some bad weather that is what I'll be doing. So it's always worth a look on the New Items page.
I'm beginning to realise that perhaps I'm inclined to show Otto in his best light, In previous blogs he is shown looking either handsome or cool, which he often is. However, when we're out for a walk he is more often to be found with his bottom poking out of a hedge! We have a particularly wide old double hedgerow, and Otto often gets right in. I'm sure he wonders why I don't join him as it's obviously very entertaining. Yesterday, when I took this photo, he was totally engrossed with whatever was in there and really did not want to come home. He went straight to the same spot this morning and assumed the same position. He is just a little bit bonkers.

I only just realised that it's Blogday, I knew it was Thursday and had failed to make the link. As you know, I nearly always write the blog on Thursday, so why I haven't thought about it until now is beyond me. I have been a bit busy (making excuses here), there is new jewellery on the site, and I've been making Christmas cards. There is also a magnificent casserole in the oven (and rice pudding).
Dick has had a very practical week, and I think he's surprised himself as well as me. He has re-boarded the barn, which now looks great, and today he's been rebuilding a trailer. Throughout all this practicality there have been no injuries (well one minor splinter) and he's done it all without any help. Marvellous. He's sprung into action because he's got a very busy couple of months coming up at work - he will be covering Milton Keynes and Northampton as well as Norfolk & Suffolk. So all the jobs he'd had in mind to do before the Winter are now done.
I will be having a stall at the Produce Market at Metfield Village Hall on Saturday morning, and on the 14th October I will be at the Halesworth Produce Market. I intend to compile a list of the events I'm attending on the lead up to Christmas and I'll put a copy on the website.
Otto is currently nudging my elbow because he wants to go out, and being a big dog this can cause problems, especially if I'm drinking coffee. So I'll be off round the meadows (for the third time today).
